Jake French Fund
Jake French is a young man from Estacada who is rebounding from a tragic accident that paralyzed him from the neck down. His courage and determination have repeatedly shown the doctors wrong and is slowly making headway, recently gaining a fair amount of control over one of his arms.
Sheriff Craig Roberts, a member of the Clackamas County Peace Officers Benevolent Foundation, was so moved by this young man, that he has worked to bring Jake's plight to the attention of the citizens of Oregon. After showing a video production about Jake at the recent Search & Rescue Conference (SARCon), held in Welches, Oregon, attendees donated nearly $1000 in a 'pass the basket' spontaneous moment of giving.
Sheriff Roberts has since worked with local media to bring Jake's situation to the forefront. KOIN Channel 6 did an indepth story on Jake.
Jake and his family have located an cutting-edge clinic in California that has been working with Jake and aiding in his progress. Unfortunately, this treatment is very expensive and they need all the help they can get.
The Clackamas County Peace Officer's Benevolent Foundation made an initial donation of $3000.00, which has already gone to helping Jake get to a specilized clinic in California for his first if many visits. The Foundation has also set up the Jake French Fund at US Bank. Anyone who would like to make a donation can go to any US Bank and request to make a donation into that account.
